Falconry Based Bird Abatement vs Traditional Bird Removal Methods
IS NATURE AS EFFECTIVE AS MAN MADE METHODS?
We at Sky Predators believe that nature has already provided the most effective bird control available. Falconry based bird abatement is 100% natural, completely green, and environmentally friendly. It is a quiet, non-invasive way to protect your crops or property from nuisance birds. Best of all it is extremely effective if done properly. Nature has hard wired both predator and prey with basic knowledge. By using well trained and flown falcons we create a protection area by putting a hunting falcon in the air over the crops or property. By having several falcons "hunting" the area, nuisance birds will avoid the area keeping them from damaging valuable crops, feed, buildings, equipment, ect.
Propane Cannons/Noise Makers
While these devices seem to work well at the start their effectiveness falls apart in just a few days. Nuisance birds quickly become accustomed to the sound of these devices. Soon showing no fear what so ever. These are also limited in only initially being effective near where they are set up. Worst of all they create a lot of noise pollution. In some areas, such as residential and industrial areas, these noise makers are not a viable option.
Shooting
Shooting follows propane cannons/noise makers in drawbacks. Nuisance birds quickly become accustomed to the sound of shooting. Soon they learn the limited range of humans and guns and stay just out of range. Shooting is also labor intensive and generally yields less than desirable results. Noise and safety is another concern. In some areas, such as residential and industrial areas, shooting is not a viable option.
Netting
Netting can be very effective in the correct situations. Netting if used incorrectly will allow nuisance birds to damage fruit through the net or allow bird to get inside the netting as well. Netting is very expensive and requires lots of labor to set up. Labor and material costs coupled with normal wear and tear to the net can make it more hassle than it is worth.
Large orchards with cherries, apples, nuts and feedlots/industrial applications would not be possible to net as well.
Chemical Bird Repellents
Chemical bird repellents pose a new set of issues. These are usually a type of poison. This is not at all enviromentally friendly. From water and food contamination to sick and dead birds passing on poisons to other predators.
As you can see falconry based bird abatement is a very effective solution that can deliver superior results.
